Privacy policy

I take privacy GDPR very seriously, so for information on how this website uses your details, please read my privacy policy carefully and thoroughly:

PRIVACY POLICY: WHAT PERSONAL DATA I COLLECT AND WHY I COLLECT IT

Who I am

My website address is https://www.lornamcgachie.co.uk.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on my site, I collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service Privacy Policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

I use a contact form to manage contact form submissions. I don’t ask for much, only your name, business name and email address. This enables me to get in touch with you about your project. The information is sent as email messages that only the site owner is allowed to access. I only ever capture your name and email address as stated when you fill out the form. I don’t set a particular time limit on storing information because I may need it for future reference. If you want your information to be removed from our database, please contact me. I will remove it any time there are concerns about your privacy. I only ever used the contact form submissions for customer service purposes and do not use the information submitted through it for marketing purposes.

Cookies

A cookie is a simple text file that your browser uses to record certain settings that are relevant to the websites you visit. I use cookies with Google Analytics to gain information on who visits my site and which pages they look at. But that’s all – I don’t collect any information that could identify who you are.

If you leave a comment on my site, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year. If you visit my login page, I will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, I will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

The website uses Google Analytics to anonymously analyse usage.

Who we share your data with

We do not share your name, email address or other contact details with any other organisations.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on my website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data I hold about you, including any data you have provided to me. You can also request that I erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Complaints

I take complaints seriously. If you have concerns about my handling of your data or privacy or need to make a complaint, please contact me by email at lmcgachie@yahoo.co.uk. You can also write to me at 4 Gathering Gate, Denmead, Hampshire, PO76SZ.

If you have any questions about my privacy policy and what it means, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
